Why Do Girls Have Mental Health Issues?

The current social landscape presents a host of challenges for young people around the world, posing significant risks to their mental health and well-being. The issues they face are numerous and daunting, including debilitating conditions like anxiety and depression that consume their everyday lives. In addition, unrealistic beauty standards, unreachable societal expectations, and relentless academic pressures contribute to their overwhelming stress. The prevalence of social media only worsens this situation, perpetuating an endless stream of images and messages that further fuel their feelings of inadequacy and exclusion from peers. And to worsen things further, those who belong to marginalized groups, including those perceived to be different for reasons such as race, sexuality, or gender identity, are subject to yet more stress-inducing discrimination and ostracism.

It is, therefore, imperative that communities and support systems emphasize mental health resources and begin a meaningful dialogue surrounding these pressing issues. Only then can we hope to create a safer and more nurturing environment for young people to thrive in and build healthier futures.
